April is the perfect time to start the running season. Nature is coming to life, the days are getting longer, and the energy in the air encourages people to be active outdoors. The Silesian Voivodeship, full of picturesque areas and sports enthusiasts, will not disappoint again this year. We have prepared an overview of the most interesting events which are worth adding to your diary. If you are planning an active holiday in the region - get your boots ready, because there will be a lot going on!

Barbarian Race - Ustroń (4-6 April)

The Barbarian Race is more than just a run - it is a true test of character and endurance. The event, which will take place in April 2025, will attract hundreds of competitors ready to tackle the challenging obstacles on the course. As always, the organisers will ensure that there is a variety of routes and levels of difficulty - from shorter variants for beginners to murderous distances for the real tough guys.

This run is a great option for people who want to feel the adrenaline rush and test their abilities in non-standard conditions. There is no shortage of mud, climbing, crawling under nets or carrying weights.

Kuźniańska Leśna Zadyszka - Kuźnia Raciborska (5 April)

For those who appreciate contact with nature, the ideal choice will be the Kuznetsk Forest Fillies. This is an intimate, friendly running event in the heart of the forests of the Rudy Raciborskie Forest District. A route of about 10 km awaits the participants, which leads through beautiful forest paths.

Kuźnia Forest Half Marathon - Kuźnia Raciborska (5 April)

If you prefer to test yourself over a longer distance, the Kuznetsk Forest Half Marathon will provide you with the right emotions. The route takes you through the same charming terrain, but requires more endurance and good fitness.

Run Niegowa - Niegowa (13 April)

The Niegowa Run is a unique sporting event that will take place on 13 April 2025 in the picturesque village of Niegowa, located in the heart of the Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Upland. Participants can choose from several distances suited to different levels of ability.

Wojciech Korfanty Running Festival - Katowice (26-27 April)

This is one of the most recognisable runs in the region. The Wojciech Korfanty Running Festival has a long-standing tradition and is held in memory of the eminent Silesian.

In 2025, the Wojciech Korfanty Running Festival takes on a new formula -. night run over 5 km in the centre of Katowice. The start is scheduled for 9.30 p.m. from the Silesian Seym Square, and the finish line will be located on the premises of the Kolejarz Sports Centre at 1 Alfreda St. The route of the run will take participants through the key places of the city, offering a unique experience of a night run through the streets of the Silesian capital.

Dąbrowski Half Marathon - Dąbrowa Górnicza (27 April)

The Dąbrowski ArcelorMittal Poland Half Marathon is one of the biggest running events in the region. The event will be held for the 17th time in 2025, traditionally attracting both amateurs and experienced runners from all over Poland. The 21.097 km route is certified by PZLA and runs through the city centre and through the picturesque recreational areas around Park Zielona and Pogoria. The run is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and the finish line will be located in Haller Park - an ideal place to rest after the effort. Excellent organisation, solid facilities and a sporting atmosphere await the participants.

Tips for runners - how to prepare well for a run?

  1. Don't leave training to the last minute. Even a few weeks of regular running will significantly improve your fitness and well-being.
  2. Ensure hydration and diet. Good fuel is key - avoid heavy meals before a run.
  3. Match your outfit to the weather. April can take you by surprise - check the forecast and dress in layers.
  4. Do a warm-up. It will reduce the risk of injury and get you into a rhythm from the first kilometre.
