Museum Night 2025 in the Zagłębie region - a journey through history, art and tradition

On 17 May 2025, the much-loved celebration of culture - Museum Night - will take place across Poland. It is one of those nights of the year when galleries, exhibitions and historic buildings bustle with life until the wee hours. But this year, the Dąbrowa Basin is preparing something really special! For the first time, three cities - Sosnowiec, Będzin and Dąbrowa Górnicza - have decided to join forces and organise a joint event to attract residents and tourists. It will all be held under the motto "Flavours of Zagłębie" - and believe us, there will be no shortage of these flavours!
Three cities, one event
The Night of the Museums in the Zagłębie region has never been so spectacular. This year, as many as three cultural institutions have prepared a joint programme, thanks to which you can not only discover the history and art of the region, but also literally... taste it!
The action involves:
- Zagłębie Museum in Bedzinlocated in the beautiful Castle and Palace of Mieroszewski,
- Schoen Palace Sosnowiec Museum - one of the most representative buildings in the city,
- Sztygarka' City Museum in Dąbrowa Górnicza, known for its interesting historical and mining exhibitions.
For the first time ever, they have decided not only to hold the events simultaneously, but also to synchronise programmes and jointly invite residents and tourists to visit all three establishments on one night.
What will be happening in Sosnowiec?
If you are planning to stay for the Night of the Museums right in Sosnowiec, this is a great decision! Schoen Palace Sosnowiec Museum has prepared a really interesting programme. First of all, there will be four exhibitions:
- Polish contemporary glass
- European glass in the Schoen Palace collection
- Structures of Landscape. Janusz Wojcieszak - photography
- Weaving the city. On the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Schoen family in Sosnowiec
The palace will be open in the evening and visitors will not only be able to admire the exhibitions, but also experience the unique atmosphere of the historic interior in a night-time setting.
Bedzin - castle, palace and workshops with tradition
The next stop on the Museums' Night tour will be Zagłębie Museum in Bedzinwhich invites you to visit as many as three locations: The Castle, the Mieroszewski Palace and the Mizrachi House of Prayer. Each of these sites has its own unique atmosphere and its own attractions, including a sword-fighting tournament, archery or guided tours.
Some exhibitions will be made available free of charge, as will entrances to the underground and the palace - details of times and attractions can be found on the Zagłębie Museum website.
Dąbrowa Górnicza - urban game and mining history
In Dąbrowa Górnicza, events focused on Sztygarka" City Museum. The facility offers a rich programme and attractions will include:
- The exhibition "Tastes and Scents of the People's Republic of Poland. Caricature from 1944-1989".
- Museum game for children
- Sensory workshops
- Competition of Dąbrowa's KGW for the title of Taste Champion
Importantly, the programme has been planned with different age groups in mind - there will be something for the little ones as well as for adults.
Don't worry about transport - there will be a bus!
The great news for everyone is that the organisers are providing free buswhich will run between the museums in Sosnowiec, Będzin and Dąbrowa Górnicza. So there is no need to worry about access or parking spaces - just check the timetable and hop on a special museum vehicle.
What else is worth knowing?
- Free bus will run between the three museums throughout the evening.
- You can check the programme of the individual museums on their websites - it is advisable to plan your route in advance to take advantage of all the attractions.
- For children, a special museum gamein which they collect stamps at each museum - a surprise awaits them on completion.
