Christmas is a time that is indissolubly associated with the sparkle of lights, scent and gingerbread. This year, the Christmas markets surprise visitors with a variety of offers, beautiful scenery and numerous attractions for the whole family. Each city has prepared something unique to make you feel the magic of Christmas to the full. Let's find out what events are planned for 2024 in the Silesian Voivodeship.
Market square in Katowice
Katowice, which is one of the largest cities in the Silesian Voivodeship, invites you to a unique Christmas market, which is traditionally held in the Market Square. This year the event kicked off on 22 November and will last until 5 January 2025. It is an excellent opportunity to feel the magic of Christmas surrounded by impressive illuminations and numerous attractions.
The Katowice Fair is distinguished by the diversity of its stalls. You will find both handmade decorations and products by local artists. Gourmets will appreciate the rich culinary offer - from regional dishes to traditional mulled wine. Especially popular this year are the attractions for children: a huge Ferris wheel and a Victorian carousel. Meanwhile, a Park of Lights and an open ice rink will also await all visitors near the market square.
Nikiszowiec in Katowice
One of the most atmospheric places in the region, the Nikiszowiec estate in Katowice, once again invites you to its iconic fair. It will take place on 6-8 December. Strolling between the stalls surrounded by historic architecture, you can feel the spirit of tradition and Christmas warmth.
Jarmark na Nikiszu is a paradise for handicraft lovers. Here you will find unique ceramics, jewellery and Christmas tree decorations, often created by local artists. There will also be plenty of regional specialities - krupniok, sourdough breads and baked goods. All this is accompanied by the sounds of carols performed live by orchestras and choirs.
Gliwice
Gliwice, known for its beautiful market square, is also delighting with its Christmas offer. The fair will start on 6 December and last until 22 December.
A wide range of stalls with handicrafts, Christmas decorations and culinary specialities are just the beginning. Visitors will also be treated to a number of accompanying events, including concerts of carols, artistic shows and workshops for children and adults.
A special highlight of the fair are performances by street performers and joint singing of Christmas carols in a festive atmosphere. The Gliwice Market Square, decorated with Christmas illuminations, turns into a magical place where everyone can feel the Christmas spirit.
Bytom
The Bytom Fair is for those who love Christmas decorations and atmospheric illuminations. This year, from 1 to 22 December, the town square will become a real Land of Ice - with a huge Christmas tree, a castle and a carousel for children. Stalls will feature handicrafts as well as hot drinks and festive baked goods.
The Bytom Fair is also a meeting place - hot drinks and snacks are served in wooden huts to be enjoyed with loved ones. It is worth a visit to feel the warmth and magic of Christmas. In the evening, the entire square is lit up by impressive illuminations, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
